The Association was formed in 1989 and has several member schools spread through different states.

Our President (seen at right) is Mr. F. M. Van Hecke, who is the Director for Region 5 of the United States TaeKwon-Do Federation.  He is currently a 6th degree Black Belt in the art of TaeKwon-Do.

Our schools practice the Chang-Hon patterns and offer a more traditional martial arts training for self-defense and teach a positive, progressive, and healthy mental attitude.

We are affiliated with the United States TaeKwon-Do Federation, headed by Grand Master C. E. Sereff and are loyal to the teachings of General Choi Hong Hi, founder of TaeKwon-Do.

This website is intended to provide visitors and current members with access to information about our member schools, contact information, and their websites (if available), Association information, archived newsletters, and other information of interest.  We strive to keep the information up to date and welcome any suggestions by our members.

If any members change school or class information, they should notify Mr. Van Hecke so their listing on this site can be updated as soon as possible.

What is TaeKwon-Do?

The Korean martial arts began more than 2,000 years ago and have evolved into the modern day fighting technique called TaeKwon-Do which means “Foot, Hand, Art.” Tae = Foot, Kwon = Hand, Do = Art or Way.

The late General Choi, Hong Hi, 9th Degree Black Belt and Grand Master, was recognized as the founder of TaeKwon-Do and was the Founder of the International TaeKwon-Do Federation.  The General spent most of his life promulgating TaeKwon-Do throughout the world and it was his view that TKD should be something that every man, woman, and child should be able to practice and enjoy.  He believed that TaeKwon-Do was for everyone, and should not be restricted to any particular race, geographic area, or organization.

Rival associations and federations, from time to time, have broken off from the original roots and today practice their own versions of what is called TaeKwon-Do.  However, our schools are committed to General Choi’s true and original TaeKwon-Do as refined and taught well into his eighties.  Many of our instructors have studied directly with him, and we are honored to continue his legacy.
